[ New Architectural Laws ]
The Veer Raganath and the Infrastructure and Construction Committee have began an redesigning project of the cities in Santi Rasta in efforts to minimize cost of living, poverty, homelessness, and to redesign and create better infrastructures within Shanty Town Areas. The new law being titled as the ICC Legislation Code 12.1, a simple gloss over of the law is this:
- Current Industrial Parks are to manufacture standardized prefabricated concrete panels for apartments as to facilitate cheaper housing designs as well as the creation of affordable homes. These assembly parts for apartments should be module.
- Usage of Carbon-Negative Concrete on apartments along with the creation of Hempcrete.
- Maximum height for residential and commercial zones and buildings are to maximize at the height of 11 floors (154 feet; 47 meters).
- There should be attention to the amenities and services provided within the buildings and outside of them. All amenities and services must be accessible within walking distance (said walking distance is about a mile or 25-30 minute walk.) or through public transit.
- Street planning in commercial and residential zones should not allow through traffic (think of it like superblocks).
- Type 1 to 8 housing are to be slowly redesigned or removed along with Level 1-4 Complexes being redesigned and revamped to be able to accommodate for more people.
- All State-Owned Architecture and Infrastructure Companies are to focus on making apartments with units being able to accommodate 4-6 people within them with all the basic amenities inside the unit.
- Parks are to be made near, within, or around these Apartments so as to create green spaces to accommodate a social area for adults and children.
- Light Control Systems are to be implemented in residential and commercial zones along with integrated city-wide daylight harvesting into urban infrastructure.
[ Southward Expansion ]
Farmers and other people of Santi Rasta began expanding South of the Ilus continent. trucks of families, fertilizers, plants, and other equipment dozing off acres of land for new usable farmland and the prospect of hitting new minerals and resources. While this hasn’t been approved by the Government this certainly seems like an expansion of Santinese land into unclaimed or small territory.
[ Economy ]
An economic report has been released by the Santinese Government. Regarding economic trends of the nation:
GDP: $5.25 Billion
GDP per Capita: $928
Population: 5,661,000
- 61,000 Children Born in Sparkalia in the year 1611.
[ Innovation ]
The National Institute of Scientific Discoveries have began experimentation on Perennial Cereals and the implementation of them into Santi Rasta’s Agricultural Sector. These will help with. . .
- Greater access to resources through a longer season.
- Greater access to resources through a deeper rooting zone.
- More efficient use of soil nutrients
- Sustainable production on marginal lands
- Reduced soil erosion
- Increased wildlife population
- Reduced weed competition
- Improved soil microbiomes
- Sequester More carbon
As of this moment there are disadvantages to Perennial Cereals in which it’s current early stage development doesn’t address food security. The NISD shall look more into genetic modifications and cross breeding high-yield crops with other beneficial crop traits.
Crop rotations are more difficult to do and will lead up to the greater buildup of pathogens, pests, or weeds. Though with pesticides such as Cyanopyrophen and all can help limit or prevent the buildup of pests, weeds, and pathogens.
While Perennial Cereals build up organic matter, it comes with the expense of plant productivity though this can be prevented when organic matter builds up to a level where equilibrium is reached between nutrient mineralization and nutrient immobilization or fertilizer is added to the system.
Perennial Plants also utilize more incoming rainfall which results in dropping and/or reduced surface flow to rivers.
There are reduced nutrient delivery to downstream farms, though on the other hand it might benefit from improved water quality.
Perennial crops may improve pest habitation. So usage of pesticides is beneficial. Burning of the stubble of perennial grains could reduce these populations, but burning may not be permitted in some areas. Furthermore, rodents and insects living underground would survive burning, whereas tillage disrupts their habitat.
Rice will be the first Perennial crop to be introduced into Santi Rasta Agricultural Sector. So as to reduce soil erosion and deforestation. While there are disadvantages to them. Having Perennial Rice Crops on upland rice; rainfed paddy rice; and irrigated paddy rice could yield benefits.
Carbon Negative Concrete has also been researched along with Hempcrete and have began production in State-Owned Factories.
[ Military ]
The Central Military Commission under the leadership of the Kartika Paksi have began research and experimentation on Chemical Weapons. Through making nerve agents and other chemical agents. A branch within the Commission called the NBCC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Committee) with three bureau’s made for Civil Defense, Military Defense, and Research.
“Lemonade Stands have been propping up in different parts of Santi Rasta to offer refreshing drinks to researchers with headaches and labors with tired limbs. Only costing ₹100!
