Like a classic Chromafey bakery, the atmosphere had simultaneously something magical and sinister. Asking for directions a hyperactive storekeeper instructed the way towards the Estate Luxensmith. To get there Mr Smith had to cross a few of the curious Shatter-Sky bridges. From far away they were large and stretched out, connecting the different far-of islands floating in this bottomless sky. Some were so long they vanished in the horizon fog to unseen destinations. But standing before such a bridge and viewing it up front, they were much shorter, the size of ones used to cross rivers. Like many things in Indefinite Color, distance was dynamic and inconsistent.
The Luxensmith Estate consisted of a series of rocky islands of differing shape and size, floating in the sky like pale mountains, across, above, besides, and diagonal from each other. The landscape carried irregular clusters of red glowing forest. Grand spires and castles and other structures in white and amber were built into and through the islands, sometimes extending sideways or below from within. The location had an aura of heat and force and power, and also a little bit the look of a villainy layer. From the castle on the large central island extended giant construct looking like a cross of a tower and an antenna. Upon its peak floated a rapidly spinning white radiant orb, seemingly coated in lashing crimson fire, that lulled everything in a reddish light, like a red sun. A brass ring encompassed the whole range of islands like a planetary ring. It looked like it was burning, and occasionally gave off large flaming flares like an overcharged cable.
Mr Smith entered through a large ivory gate, entering into marble halls. From the reception he was guided into a silvery birdcage-like structure. Propelling itself through white hot flames it rose like an elevator into heights, arriving in a large dome-room of cherry wood and white glass. Behind a brass table fitted with rubies sat a large Switterlind, with angular wings of fire, an exoskeleton of pale metal, and eyes the color of strawberry.
The figure spoke in an unexpectedly soft voice. "Greetings, I am Cinsight, Luxensmith Overseer. You have informed us of your coming by letter. Tell me your intentions."
