In the mirror one could observe the image of the rising sun. It was an utmost dreamy depiction, like an overidealized imagery of what a sun ought to look like. Bright and brilliant, dominating the azure sky. Looking at it directly made one feel uneasy. A sharp eye would get the Impression the sun was slowly growing larger. The rays almost seemed to seep from the mirror, soaking the room in liquid light. The color went from brilliant yellow to tangerine, as the sun began to seethe. Flames were dancing, penetrating the mirror's surface, licking the wall around it. The temperature was beginning to heat up. Sparks were flying from the glassy surface. The color intensified to an infernal red-orange. The mirror-image was dissolving. Then it began to lean forward, leaving the mirror-plane, like a flaming curtain. The lashing flames stretched out forming wings. The sun opened its eyes.
The heat and brightness receded. The mirror-surface looked slightly molten. Around the mirror the flames had faintly scorched the walls. The sun was missing in the mirror-image, only a blue sky remained. A tall figure stood there. Two pairs of feathered butterfly wings of charcoal and vibrant orange. It's clothes looked like a more elegant version of what a professional judge would wear. A voice flared up, one that burned itself into any conversation it was partaking it. "Edon, Sir and Monsieur, Disciple of the Rainbow College" The words were spoken with certainty. "At your service your Prose's Marquis. The Phoenix-Jurat, for affairs of Creation and Destruction." The new arrival held up one of his insectoid arms, looking onto a small ivory and ruby watch with too many clock hands.
As the mirror was cooling down, it began to split. First, with a glassy clink, a single horizontal crack, then a vertical one, then a diagonal. The splitting accelerated until the surface was a mosaic. The shards were blue and green and shined like gemstones. The glass creaked from the mounting tension, until, in a single shattering explosion, it burst forward. The shards propelled, but halted as fast as they came shot, a few steps before the mirror.
After a few blinks of the eyes, like the dissolving of an optical illusion, instead of a wave of shards, a figure stood there with shiny wings of emerald and turquoise, a little smaller than the first. It spoke with a voice like rubbing glass. "Saint Clover, Lady and Madame, Rainbow College's Disciple, Glassmaker of Luck and Potency." Her eyes were glittering, and shiny like a prism.
The azure sky in the mirror had vanished. What was left looked like a liquid night sky, with slow ripples and waves. It began to spiral, forming a vortex of little lights in a black deep. Perspective was shifted, instead of looking from a room into a mirror, an observer felt looking from a mirror into a room. And instead of a figure emerging, the observer would emerge towards the figure.
In capes of shadow and black they stood, shifty wings of pearl and violet. They seemed blurry. A pale head like a silver moon at midnight was staring back, eyes of molten amethysts. The antennae were faintly glowing in a blueish tint. The emerging voice was shifty. It was whispering like wind, but somehow always audible. "Varolince, Crux of Day, Rainbow Disciple, Invoker of Mystery and Darker Arts."
The mirror was back to its old state, but it seemed more ethereal now, like the ghost of a mirror. The Phoenix-Jurat looked away from his curious watch. "I feel euphoria for our encounter. The Rainbow Colleges likes new colors." Before Edon finished his sentence, Saint Clover had dashed to the seat closest to the window. "Mine! Claimed! Dibs!" She sat down. The seat was not inherently special, but her insistent act had made every other seat feel inferior now. Clover had generated a win where there hadn't even been a game. Edon stared blankly. Varolince had seated themselves as well, tough no-one had seem them move. Only the Phoenix-Jurat stood there now, somewhat awkwardly, with the mysticism of the situation partially dispelled. "The cigar gives you a distinctive fiery look." He stated, before taking a seat.
