An official press release from the Ministry of Defense
The Ministry of Defense declared a no-fly and no-sail zone for parts of the Meager Ocean as of 08:00 on July 5. The move aims to prevent civilian damage from shooting exercises, and the no-fly zone will be lifted when the exercise ends.
The Ministry of Defense announced that it will conduct joint naval and aerial military operations exercises assuming defense missions around the island of Araon. It was announced that the drills will involve ships from the 3rd Fleet and two air force fighter wings from the Western Command.
At the same time as an outpost for Yulsan, Araon Island is an important hub that helps Yulsan exert influence over the Meager Ocean. Of course, if you do nothing, you cannot protect the sea and the island. Yulsan's ideals of rights are great, but in the international community, rights come from will and power.
Since the end of the Vampire War, Yulsan has been at peace for a long time. This has brought about a stagnation in war technology and consequently adversely affected Yulsan's ability to defend itself. Now a change is needed.
As a practical core of the exercise, the Air Force will conduct various tasks such as air blocking, maritime target attacks, and reconnaissance. Fighter jets and bombers with stealth capabilities against multi-band radar will test several long-range weapons during the exercise. AEW aircraft will verify their ability to detect targets at great distances and serve as testbeds for new technologies.
If the Navy is a shield, the Air Force is a spear. It is the role of the air force that is at the heart of the attack.
The role of the Navy will be less than that of the Air Force, but they will play a role in this exercise that can never be overlooked. After all, the unit that is more likely to face the enemy face-to-face in times of emergency is the Navy.
At the heart of the Yulsan Navy are aircraft carriers loaded with multiple aircraft, as well as destroyers equipped with powerful sensors and long-range weapons. Battleships equipped with powerful armored plates and giant deck guns are romantic, but they are outdated, and the last time a battleship with a gunpowder cannon was used in Yulsan was 250 years ago. Yulsan's ships have changed with the times. Although there are cruisers equipped with large-caliber railguns, they remain in only supplementary roles.
Destroyers grew in size as time went on. The displacement of destroyers, which was mostly 3,000 tons 300 years ago, is now comparable to that of previous cruisers. Destroyer ships are equipped with many sensors and use a variety of weapons as they carry out various tasks such as air defense, missile interception, destruction of enemy ships, and submarine destruction. These characteristics created vulnerability to EMP attacks during the transitional period, but these problems are now eliminated when EMP protection design is common.
Submarines, which will serve as assassins, are prepared to "guide out politely" other countries' ships, which will stay below the surface and attempt to observe the drill. Submarines should not perform to all their abilities on these missions. To prevent other countries from collecting accurate data on Yulsan's submarines, the submarines will generate unusual patterns of noise and behave differently from standard operational doctrines.
