Sta’ir-Herwa Merger Causes Concerns Among Citizens
As the finalities of the merger between the two governments and states of Sta’ir and Herwa are being dealt with, there has been noticeable upticks in civilian unrest in the Sta’iri homeland about a variety of issues, many concerning Sta’ir’s place within the new union. These concerns have been most active among nationalist factions of the former Sta’iri state, and give way to the need to discuss these issues in order to quell public concern.
The main cause of concern is if Sta’iri citizens, both human and non-human, will be treated equally to Herwan citizens. Both sides of the merger have explicitly stated that this is an equal union, and the voices of both sides will be heard with equal initiative. However, there has yet to be a government function or election that will show this policy, so the question will remain until a government process is held to show this policy.
Furthermore, there have been further concerns regarding Herwa’s more pro-capitalist policies and their prospective effects on the Sta'iri environment if Herwan companies decide to expand here. As of now, Sta’ir may have to concede to Herwa’s policies if only marginally, to make the integration process run smoother economically. As time goes on, it is not concrete on how these policies will change or if they will remain in place in Sta’iri-governed land, but experts say that the environmental damage will “be minimal, and can be mitigated if companies are willing to work with policymakers on the issue.”
Militarism on the Rise?
In recent polls, the Sta’iri military, despite the astounding loss to Teprorian forces, has seen a noticeable uptick in recruitment numbers, as many still willingly volunteer for service, despite the process to integrate armed forces still ongoing. Additionally, a few pro-military factions in local governments have been gaining popularity, namely the National Party of the Emirates, a more nationalist and protectionist faction. Out of government, there has been increased militia activity, with the largest group, the “Eadayiy Altilal,” or “Hill Runners,” having actively partaken in a few of the protests that have occurred in major cities.
Eastern Emirates Healing After Tepror War
The war with Tepror was over quite fast, yet many places in the East have experienced significant damage and significant loss of life. The reconstruction efforts continue, and those who are deceased are being laid to rest with national honor. The Emir-President, Abdul Haadi el-Abdelnour, still remains missing, and is presumed to have been a casualty of war after his abduction and subsequent disappearance during the conflict.
