Within the halls of Gaidansu, Magia Regnum Interior

The time Aiko Fumiko had been waiting her whole life for had finally arrived as she stepped up the stairs and arrived at the altar with the magic paper glowing before her. Today was the day she would graduate. Today is the day she would receive her power. It was the day of her coming of age; the day she would sign a contract with the Ōrumaiti. Magical girls in Magia Regnum were not magical girls by default. Of course, when they are born, they receive a magical item which grants them the right to be a magical girl. Aiko’s had been a pendant she now clutched in her hand as it hung around her neck. This however was what granted them power, unlike a fully fledged magical girl who had the power imbued into their very beings themselves. This power was given to them by the Ōrumaiti, the heavenly being that watched over Magia Regnum, but of course such power didn’t come for free.

In order for one to receive the power of the magical girl a binding was required. A contract, if you will. A magical girl who signs a contract had the power within themselves and for the rest of their existence maintained the right of the magical girl, something they could not lose. It could not be taken away. In return this permanently bonded them to the Ōrumaiti. Aiko recalled the Saishi of the Gaidansu teach that the Ōrumaiti is the original source of magical girl kind and by the bond it solidified the Ōrumaiti’s existence within the realm of magical girl existence. Aiko didn’t fully understand what this meant but the Saishi were always known to speak in tongues sometimes.

Of course Aiko was also not as familiar with what exactly the contract entailed; she knew it was the tenants of the ideal magical girl. One of righteousness, justice, and beauty. She of course, as most fledgling magical girls her age did, wanted to uphold this so she had little issue in it. Ever since she was little she would play in the streets, imitating the magical girls of the Seigi Kaikan keeping the peace. She’d wanted to be a full magical girl; she witnessed one banish a dark spirit from her hometown. The beauty, the power, the grace. It was awe inspiring. Aiko knew it is what she, and many in her nation, were meant for.

“Aiko Fumiko, step forward please.” a voice called out to her.
Aiko saw a woman in white robes which flowed elegantly down her body and a simple mask bearing the mark of Magia Regnum, obscuring her face, motioning her towards the paper. This was it. Aiko stepped forward and glanced down at the paper. It had a shimmering light emitting from it and the lines filled her with awe.
“If you accept, make your mark.” the woman before her said, “Sign and become one with the Ōrumaiti.”
Aiko’s hand was shaking a little bit. Which was odd, was she nervous or excited? Maybe both. She knew this is what she wanted. She picked up the writing tool next to the paper and placed down her mark at the bottom. In a flash, the paper disappeared and she was enveloped by light. Aiko could not see nor hear anything but she had a sense of ease. Her pendant around her neck shown bright and to her surprise started to sink into her body underneath the skin. Aiko had heard about this, the fusing of the magical girl and the power of the Ōrumaiti but it was a very odd, and uncomfortable, sensation. Her pendant disappeared within her and her discomfort was replaced with a burning pain in her neck.

The symbol of divine right. A mark that appeared on their body which permanently marked them as a magical girl. It formed slowly on the left side of her neck, it was a burning sensation and Aiko grimaced at it, her forehead starting to sweat a little bit. She could bear it. The mark resembled her pendant, a circlet with the northern star in the middle. Once it formed she suddenly felt an incredible bout of energy flow into her body. She felt the power wash over her as it was now her own. She felt stronger, her head was clearer, her eyes wide open as they had never been before. The clothes on her body disappeared and was replaced by vestments which almost resembled a white Jōe which cut off at the waist in the front but flowed down the back of her legs, form fitted pants and boots that went up to her knees.

A bangle appeared on her wrist. This was to be her weapon. Of course, the bangle itself wasn’t the weapon. Obviously a magical girl would be encumbered if she had to carry one everywhere. The bangle was the solution. She could summon her weapon from it and return it to bangle form when she wasn’t using it. Aiko wondered what it would be; but she’d have to test that out after the ceremony.

The light dissipated and Aiko stood before the altar. A full fledged magical girl. It took her all her might not to jump for joy as tears welled up in her eyes.

The woman from before bowed her head, “welcome to your new life, magical girl Miracle Star.”
Miracle Star. Her magical girl moniker. She liked it. Aiko thought it fit her well.

Aiko was dismissed and she returned home. Citing the incantation in her head she de-transformed, having her clothes return to normal, and plopped down on her bed. She was told that she would be able to choose where she wanted to go in the morning and then she would receive her first assignment. Aiko placed her pillow over her face and screamed with delight, kicking her feet about. She had done it. She couldn’t wait to get started.
